What to Do After Meeting Your Weight Loss Goal
You’ve worked hard, watched your calories, exercised, made healthy food choices, and finally reached your medical weight loss goal. Congratulations! Now what?
Sometimes after attaining a goal, it can be hard to figure out what to do next. Here are a few ideas for things to do with your newfound energy and confidence:
- Improve your work performance. When you’re in good shape, you’ll have more confidence and more energy, and this can help you whether you’re trying to move up in your current job or move on to another job. What’s a professional challenge that you’ve always wanted to accomplish? That should be your next goal.
- Enjoy your family time. At night, after a long day’s work, you may have more energy than you used to. Put that to work by playing with your kids, helping with homework, or planning outdoor weekend activities like canoeing, basketball, or bike riding.
- Get rid of the weight in your wallet. You have more self-control, discipline, and focus than ever before. Use that to tame any financial woes, whether you’re saving for something special, eliminating debts, or planning for retirement.
- Try a new skill. Have you ever wanted to learn how to cook or sing or dance but thought that it seemed unattainable? If you can lose weight and maintain your goal weight, you can do anything!
- Rekindle your marriage. That positive attitude that you have from losing weight and feeling better about yourself shows to everyone. Make the most of it by showing your spouse how much you appreciate their support, with small gestures.
- Go back to school. If you’ve considered going back to school, either to improve your career or to learn something you’ve always wanted to learn, there’s no time like the present. Becoming a student will be easier now that you have planning and organization skills and stronger discipline and focus.
- Rediscover your social life. Did you become less social as you gained weight? The newer, healthier you can use your newfound confidence to get out, join your friends, plan activities, and have fun!
There’s also one last thing that you need to do now that you’ve reached your goal—keep up with your health! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is much easier than making drastic changes in the ways that you eat, exercise, and live your life, so don’t let the opportunity to remain healthy and fit pass you by.
