A six-week nutrition education program
- The kids will learn basic principles of healthy eating to achieve and maintain healthy body weight.
- They will learn to use portion control, read food labels, dine out and make smart food choices on their own.
- We will use the Food Guide Pyramid, visual props and games to encourage healthy eating habits.
- Health and well-being will improve through regular exercise.
- They will gain the knowledge and tools to successfully implement healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
The program is taught by a registered dietitian and emphasizes information from the most recent evidence-based science relating to nutrition and health. All the concepts in this program are based on the US Federal Food Guidance System and are endorsed by professional organizations such as the American Dietetic Association, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and many others.
